About Carol Gordon – Counsellor and ADHD Coach
Counselling and ADHD Coaching for Adults
I’m Carol Gordon, the founder of Clear Haven Therapy. I work mainly with adults who are exploring ADHD or recognising ADHD traits in themselves, often alongside anxiety, emotional overwhelm, low mood, or long-standing self-doubt.
Many of the people I support have spent years feeling misunderstood, overthinking their experiences, or trying to cope without really understanding what’s going on underneath. I offer online counselling and ADHD coaching, providing a calm, supportive space to make sense of these experiences and find ways forward that feel realistic and right for you.

My Way of Working

My way of working is centred on helping you understand yourself more clearly and with less self-judgement, particularly if your mind feels busy, reactive, or hard to slow down. Many of the people I work with are exploring ADHD and have spent years feeling misunderstood or questioning themselves.
In our online sessions, we focus on both emotional understanding and everyday challenges, such as overthinking, emotional regulation, confidence, boundaries, and decision-making. I work using counselling alongside ADHD-informed coaching, supporting you to build awareness and practical tools at a pace that feels manageable and supportive.
Each session is shaped around you and how your brain works, rather than following a fixed model. The aim is to offer support that feels realistic, grounded, and genuinely helpful in your day-to-day life.
About Me
My interest in therapy grew from my own experience of trying to make sense of patterns that never quite seemed to fit. I became increasingly curious about why we think, feel, and react the way we do, which led me to study psychology and counselling.
Being diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood helped me understand many of the challenges I had struggled to make sense of earlier in life. It also shaped the direction of my work. I’m particularly drawn to supporting adults who are exploring ADHD later on, often after years of self-doubt, overwhelm, or a sense that something never quite clicked.
If you prefer to explore ADHD support in your own time, I also offer self-guided courses and resources.

Alongside My Therapy Work
Before starting my private practice, I worked in community support roles while raising my family. This gave me a grounded understanding of the pressures people carry and how easily emotional needs can be overlooked when life feels busy or demanding.
Outside of work, I keep things simple and grounding, walking my dog, spending time outdoors, or listening to a good podcast with a coffee. I’m drawn to work that helps people make sense of themselves, feel more settled in their own mind, and move forward with greater self-trust and confidence.
Frequently Asked Questions;
What can I get support with?
I support adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure why life feels harder than it should. Many of the people I work with experience overthinking, emotional ups and downs, difficulty staying organised, low confidence, or a sense that they’re always trying to keep up. Some come with a clear concern, others just know something isn’t quite working.
Do I need an ADHD diagnosis for ADHD coaching?
No. You don’t need a diagnosis to work with me. Many people I support are exploring whether ADHD might be relevant for them, while others simply recognise similar patterns in themselves. We focus on understanding how your mind works and finding approaches that feel realistic and supportive for you.
What is ADHD-informed support?
ADHD-informed support means working with an understanding of how attention, emotions, motivation, and overwhelm can show up differently. Sessions are flexible, collaborative, and adapted to suit how your brain works, rather than expecting you to fit a rigid model of therapy.
What happens in a session?
Sessions are a space to slow things down and make sense of what’s going on for you. We’ll explore patterns, challenges, and experiences at your pace, and look at practical ways forward that feel manageable. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out before you start.
Is this counselling or coaching?
My work sits somewhere between the two, depending on what you need. Some sessions focus more on emotional support and understanding, others on practical tools and clarity. We’ll work in a way that feels right for you, and that can change over time.
