Support with Anger and Emotional Overwhelm
When Anger or Overwhelm Feels Hard to Manage
Anger and emotional overwhelm are common responses to stress, pressure, and feeling overloaded. They can show up as sudden outbursts, feeling easily irritated, or shutting down after things build up.
Often, anger isn’t the problem itself but a signal that something underneath needs attention. This might be ongoing stress, emotional overload, or difficulty regulating strong feelings.
Many adults, including those with ADHD traits, recognise patterns of emotional intensity or overwhelm long before any diagnosis. Therapy offers a supportive space to slow things down, understand what’s happening, and find more manageable ways to respond.
Support with anger and emotional regulation can be explored within counselling or ADHD-informed therapy. You may also find it helpful to explore ADHD self-guided courses focused on emotional regulation and overwhelm.

Understanding What’s Beneath Anger
When anger shows up repeatedly or feels hard to control, it’s often a sign that your system is under pressure. This might look like snapping more easily, feeling constantly on edge, or becoming overwhelmed by situations that didn’t used to feel as difficult.
In therapy, we slow things down and look at what’s happening beneath the surface. Rather than focusing on stopping anger, the work is about understanding triggers, stress responses, and emotional patterns, and finding ways to feel more regulated and grounded.
For many people, this includes exploring overwhelm, emotional overload, boundaries, and self-compassion. For adults with ADHD traits, emotional intensity and reactivity are often linked to how the nervous system responds to stress.
The focus is on building awareness and support, not judgement or quick fixes. Over time, this can help emotional reactions feel less intense and easier to manage.

How I Can Support You
I offer supportive, ADHD-informed counselling for adults who experience anger, emotional intensity, or feeling overwhelmed by their emotions.
Our work focuses on slowing things down and understanding what is happening beneath the surface. This might include exploring emotional regulation, stress responses, long-standing patterns, or moments where emotions feel too big or difficult to manage.
Rather than trying to control or suppress anger, therapy offers space to understand it, reduce emotional overload, and develop more manageable ways of responding. Support is paced, collaborative, and shaped around what feels most helpful for you.
If anger or emotional overwhelm is linked to ADHD traits, burnout, or ongoing stress, this can be explored gently within therapy. Some people also choose to use ADHD self-guided courses alongside counselling to build skills around emotional regulation and overwhelm.
Some people choose to explore this work through counselling, while others find it helpful to use structured support alongside therapy. You may wish to explore my ADHD self-guided courses, which focus on emotional regulation, overwhelm, and building steadier coping strategies.
